The Outdoor Pool Committee presented its plan to replace the town’s 90 plus-year-old outdoor public pool to the Pierre City Commission at last night’s (Tues.) meeting.
The proposal includes a modern design, opportunity for private investment and a public financing structure to avoid new taxes.
Committee member Heather DeBoer says the committee focused on four uses for an outdoor pool: recreation, wellness, education and competition.
Committee co-chair Becky Burke says their proposal would provide a modern outdoor pool while still being fiscally responsible to taxpayers.
Committee co-chair Mike Mueller says they’ll hold public meetings to share information about the outdoor pool proposal and the capital campaign.
Informational sessions are expected to be held in early March. Details will be released at a later date. In the meantime, people can find more information about the proposal by visiting cityofpierre.org and clicking on the Outdoor Pool Plan link.
