A perfect storm of sorts is brewing in Pierre as lawmakers enter the final hours of the 2019 Legislative Session.
Lawmakers have until midnight tomorrow (Wed.) to wrap up business and appropriate roughly $4.6 billion in state spending.
With less than 72 hours left on the legislative clock, both House and Senate are still hammering out funding bills and conference committee agreements needed by appropriators before a final bill can be achieved. State appropriators are said to be largely in agreement, but more than a few sticking points are keeping the committee from delivering their bill to the House and Senate for debate.
Lawmakers must reach consensus on a state budget and send all business onto the Governor before adjourning tomorrow. Members will return to Pierre March 29 to take up any vetoes.
