The Dakota Radio Group’s Pierre based stations held our 17th annual “Think and Drive, Stay Alive” event for area middle and high school students this week (Tues.) at the T.F. Riggs High School Theater in Pierre. Think and Drive focuses on making good choices, both behind the wheel and in life.
South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation special agent Kendra Hauck says social media is a wonderful tool– when used properly.
She says what seems like something fun posted in the moment, may get you in trouble.
Hauck says if you send a revealing image to someone, it may get lost or misplaced and end up being seen by others.
Hauck encourages kids who may be struggling to reach out to an adult such as a parent, teacher, law enforcement officer or other adult they trust. She says you may feel hopeless or helpless, but with help your issues can be overcome.

Middle school students from Pierre Indian Learning Center and high school students from Sully Buttes, Highmore/Harrold, Crow Creek, Jones County, Stanley County and T.F. Riggs high schools were all invited to participate in this year’s program.
Think and Drive, Stay Alive programs have brought messages to our listeners and close to 14,500 students in these 17 years.
