The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is now releasing its Missouri River Basin Update daily, rather than weekly.
According to the Corps, the Oahe Dam reservoir rose a tenth of a foot in the past day to 1616.8 feet. Inflows are 50,000 cfs while releases are 33,500. The Oahe pool is projected to reach a peak of 1618 Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (April 22-24) of next week and is forecast to remain above 1617 feet through at least May 3.
The Garrison Dam reservoir directly north of Oahe was unchanged over the past 24 hours with inflows of 28,000 cfs and outflows of 12,800 cfs.
The Big Bend reservoir directly south of Oahe rose a tenth of a foot in the past day. Inflows are 36,000 cfs while releases are 31,600 cfs.
Gavins Point Dam at Yankton has very little storage capacity and is the last point to control the rate of water flowing from the upper part of the Missouri River into the lower part. Its reservoir pool went up three-tenths of a foot in the past 24 hours. Inflows are currently 58,000 cfs while releases are 55,000 cfs.
