Tomorrow (April 27) is National Drug Take Back Day.
Pharmacist Kristen Carter is the manager at Lynn’s Dakotamart Pharmacy in Pierre and is currently serving as the secretary-treasurer of the South Dakota Pharmacists Association. She says this is an opportunity for people to safely dispose of unneeded or expired medications.
Medications don’t need to be specially packaged to be dropped off.
With the US fighting an opioid epidemic, Carter says properly disposing of unwanted medications is more important than ever.
In Pierre, medications can be disposed of anytime by using the receptacles at Lynn’s Dakotamart, Walgreens or the Pierre Police Department.
