Teams from East and West River came together at the State Capitol Building in Pierre this morning (Wed.) for the South Dakota Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run.
Head of delegation for the Pierre Wildcats adult Special Olympics team Leslie Antonsen says they have several athletes competing.
Sioux Falls based Highway Patrol trooper Patrick Bumann has been involved with Special Olympics for four years; this is his third year running.
The teams started Monday in Sioux Falls and Spearfish, crossing the state and finishing tomorrow (Thurs.) in Vermillion with Opening Ceremonies for the summer games. Among this year’s stops for the “Flame of Hope” were Murdo, Pierre, Winner, Platte, Highmore and Miller.
