RFA continues collaboration at Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

By DRG Media Group News Jul 31, 2019 | 8:37 AM
The Renewable Fuels Association is once again partnering with the Buffalo Chip Campground to host the 79th annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, scheduled for Aug. 2-11 in Sturgis, S.D. Bikers are invited to be on the watch for the custom RFA ethanol bike designed by Paul Jr. Designs and featured on an episode of “American Chopper.”

“The legendary Buffalo Chip is proud to again partner with Renewable Fuels to host the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, said Sturgis Buffalo Chip owner Rod Woodruff. “The RFA understands motorcycle enthusiasts and is here to serve them. I particularly enjoy the enthusiastic interaction I see at the Chip’s RFA Refueling Station as riders fill up with American-made 93 octane for their ride to Mount Rushmore. Motorcyclists have no better supporter than the Renewable Fuels Association.”

As part of its work at Sturgis, RFA will also sponsor the 12th annual Legends Ride on Aug. 5, with RFA Vice President of Industry Relations Robert White participating and Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider as the ride captain.

As a special benefit for bikers, RFA will again host Free Fuel Happy Hours at the rally, providing a free tank of 93 octane E10 (10% ethanol) for motorcycles and a ceremonial t-shirt. The free tank giveaway will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. each afternoon from Aug. 6 to 8, at the CrossRoads area of the Buffalo Chip Campground. The fuel station that will feature the Free Fuel Happy Hours was donated by the RFA in 2017. RFA will also have a presence throughout the campground with banners, videos on the jumbotrons, and addressing the concert crowd each night.

This will be the 11th rally for RFA’s White, who will be on hand during the Free Fuel Happy Hours to answer any questions as motorcycle riders fill up on the high-octane fuel. Additionally, several RFA members will be in attendance to help educate riders about the numerous benefits of ethanol.

RFA became involved in the Sturgis rally more than a decade ago because it offers the opportunity to promote the benefits of high-octane, low-cost ethanol to the motorcycling community in a fun and exciting way.

“Ethanol is a powerful fuel choice for all sorts of vehicles, from high-performance racing to suburban minivans, and from fishing boats to motorcycles,” said RFA Vice President of Industry Relations Robert White. “Programs like our long history at Sturgis showcase the power boost it offers while clearing the air in such a magnificent setting as the Black Hills and Badlands of South Dakota.”

The action begins on Sunday, Aug. 4. Follow Robert White on Twitter at @fuelinggood for live updates.
