The investigation of a fatal car crash on Highway 212 in Watertown earlier this week (Tues.) has turned into a homicide investigation.
Watertown Assistant Police Chief Tim Toomey says investigators believe the 16-year-old boy from Moorhead, Minnesota, who slammed head on into 43-year-old Dawn Meyer’s car did so intentionally.
The speed limit where the crash occurred is 35 miles per hour. Toomey explains how they determined the juvenile’s car was doing in excess of 100 miles per hour.
The investigation is ongoing.
The juvenile involved in the crash was a runaway. He’s hospitalized in Sioux Falls with serious injuries.
Toomey says the boy has not been interviewed yet. Charges in the case are pending.
