Prices were up, but total values of South Dakota’s 2019 corn and soybean crops was down, according to the US Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.
USDA NASS says the value of South Dakota’s 2019 field and miscellaneous crops is forecast to be down 22% from 2018. The state’s crops are valued at $4.56 billion.
Corn production is expected to total $2.10 billion, down 20% but the state’s corn price is projected to be up $0.32 averaging $3.70 per bushel.
South Dakota’s soybean crop is expected to total $1.23 billion, down 39% while the price is projected to average $.043 more per bushel averaging $8.40.
