PIERRE – Trappers’ pitching struggled Sunday as the Hastings Sodbusters scored 11 runs in the first three innings on their way to a 14-3 rout of Pierre at Hyde Stadium.
Trappers’ starter Michael Newman didn’t make it out of the first inning, giving up five runs on one hit and four walks while recording just one out. Pierre pitching allowed 12 hits and 11 walks.
Michael Herrera singled in a run and Tavian Josenberger walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, when the Trappers scored all their runs.
For Hastings, Mike Decker, Cole Evans, Braden Sellon and Darek Bornemeier homered.
Pierre is now 4-6. The Trappers’ next seven games will all be against the Badlands Big Sticks, starting Monday night in Dickinson, North Dakota. Pierre will play three games there, then host Badlands for four starting Thursday night at Hyde Stadium.
