GUTHRIE, OK – Pierre’s Josi Stevens began a busy week at the National High School Finals Rodeo with her first go in Pole Bending Friday, finishing at 21.39 seconds, good for 14th in the opening performance. Stevens’ second shot will be on Thursday. Before then, she will compete Saturday morning in Reined Cow Horse, Sunday night in Breakaway Roping and both Monday morning and night in Barrel Racing.
Layni Stevens of Pierre, in her second straight NHSFR, will compete Saturday morning in Goat Tying.
In Girls’ Cutting on Friday, Jenna Fulton of St. Lawrence finished 10th in the first performance, scoring 137. Fulton will have her second go on Thursday morning, but first will have both her performances in Breakaway Roping on Monday.
Dylan Bradford of Selby was one of many not to score in the first Bull Riding performance on Friday, as only four scores were achieved. Bradford will try again on Thursday.
Dawson Phillips of Winner scored 262 on Friday, good for 12th in Reined Cow Horse. Her second go will be on Wednesday morning.
