FREMONT, NE – For the second time in four days, the Pierre Trappers scored 20 runs, blasting the Fremont Moo 20-9 on Saturday. Alex Gonzales, Niko Piazza and Jake Collins homered for the Trappers.
Gonzales hit a two-run homer, his first, to give Pierre a 2-1 lead in the visiting second. Piazza’s second homer of the season broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the fifth, an inning where the Trappers scored four more and took an 8-2 lead. Collins’ second homer, a three-run shot, capped a four-run sixth. The Trappers then scored eight in the seventh. Carter Howell hit an RBI triple in that inning and Gonzales had an RBI single.
Starter Dominick Parkhurst (2-2) earned the win, allowing six runs and four hits in five innings with four strikeouts and three walks.
The Trappers are 10-13 and will host Fremont Sunday at 4:05 at Hyde Stadium in the first of a two-game series.
