Update (2:30pm CT):
The Stanley County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident at the Fort Pierre boat ramp this (Mon.) morning that sent an adult male to the hospital in Pierre.
Rescuers were called shortly before 8am after receiving a 911 call because an unattended pickup and trailer were at the boat ramp and an empty boat was visible floating downstream.
A Pierre Fire Department Rescue Squad diver recovered a man submerged in the Missouri River about a half mile north of the mouth of the Bad River in Fort Pierre. CPR was administered and the man was rushed by AMR ambulance to Avera St. Mary’s Hospital. Further information about the man, including his current condition, have not yet been officially released.
Also aiding in the response were responding were the South Dakota Highway Patrol and the state Game Fish & Parks Department.

An adult male was rushed to Avera St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre this morning (Mon.) after being found in the water near the Fort Pierre boat ramp.
Pierre Volunteer Fire Department chief Ian Paul says the emergency responders were called around 7:45am because an unattended pickup and trailer were at the boat ramp and a boat was floating downstream.
Paul says a Rescue Squad member on a jet ski caught the boat and confirmed no one was on board. He says a diver went into the water at the boat ramp and located the victim in the water. He says the male was taken to the hospital by ambulance with CPR in progress.
No other details are yet available.
The Pierre Rescue Squad provides land and water rescue service to a wide area around Pierre and Fort Pierre.
