Three South Dakota high school golfers will play next week in a prestigious event at the Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina. Lance Christensen Jr., a senior at Little Wound, Jacob Stewart, a senior at O’Gorman, and Landon Moe, a senior at Yankton, will take part in the High School Golf National Invitational Monday through Wednesday, August 3-5. They are three of 250 boys, along with 110 girls, who will play in a 54-hole stroke-play event featuring some of the nation’s top prep golfers.
Christensen won the Class A state championship last year by five strokes. He lives in Kyle, and the nearest golf course to him is about 45 miles away in Gordon, Nebraska. Stewart was fifth in the AA state tournament last year. Moe finished tied for ninth.
