PIERRE – Pierre Governor Football will open its home schedule Friday at Hollister Field against the West Central Trojans. Pierre is 1-0 after a 37-0 win in the season opener at Sturgis.
Govenor head coach Steve Steele said that Pierre’s defense is already playing at a high level.
Steele praised those who stood out defensively in the win over Sturgis.
Steele said that sophomore starting quarterback Lincoln Kienholz has already been impressive.
Steele has seen that the upperclassmen have no problem being led by a sophomore quarterback.
Steele said that Maguire Raske, who rushed for four touchdowns in the opener, continues to be consistent.
The Governors are ready for the home opener, said Steele.
Steele believes that West Central is improving.
Steele called the Trojans’ offense impressive.
Steele was asked how similar the Pierre and West Central defenses are.
