It can be important to track the development of your child before they are school aged.
Early childhood screenings are scheduled as part of the Pierre School District, Oahe Child Development Center Child Find Process. This is open to residents of Pierre. The screenings are designed for children ages birth to five years old.
If you are interested in having your child screened, screenings will be happening on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at Jefferson Elementary School (900 N. Poplar) in Pierre.
These screenings are in place to help determine if a child will need special education or special education related services when they are of age to attend school.
The areas that will be screen are:
- Gross Motor Development
- Fine Motor Development
- Cognitive Development
- Speech and Language
- Hearing
- Vision
- General Health.
If you are interested in having your child screened, you have to schedule an appointment. You can do that by calling Kathy at 605-773-7300.
