Today’s (Sept. 28) information from the Department of Health shows the number of active infections in South Dakota is 3828, including 209 who are being treated in hospitals.
Secretary of Health Kim Malsam-Rysdon says hospitals in the state still have plenty of beds available to care for patients.
The Department of Health’s covid.sd.gov website shows 45% of the staffed hospital beds in the state are available to care for all patients while 28% of the staffed Intensive Care Unit beds are available, as of today (Sept. 28). Since the pandemic began in March, 1488 South Dakotans have had to be hospitalized because of coronavirus.
