The Walworth County Commissioners convened for their first regular meeting of the month on Tuesday.
At the end of the meeting after an executive session, the commissioners passed a motion to add an emergency item to the agenda and then voted to permanently close the county jail effective immediately, with total removal of all inmates within 30 days. DRG News spoke with State’s Attorney Jamie Hare following the meeting. Hare said he could not comment further on the reasoning behind today’s vote due to pending litigation. He did state that the complaint is a matter of public record.
