Yesterday (Oct. 6, 2020) was Dennis Pfrimmer Day in Pierre.
In a proclamation at last night’s city commission meeting, Mayor Steve Harding said Dennis “Dennie” Pfrimmer has worked to improve the quality of life in Central South Dakota for more than 25 years.
Among the accolades mentioned in the proclamation are:
- Dennie was appointed president and CEO of Capital Area Counseling Services in 2001, and made his agency one of the most effective non-profit organizations in Central South Dakota.
- Dennie fought on the front lines and helped turn the tide when a wave of teenage suicides shocked and saddened the Pierre area.
- Other initiatives Pfrimmer oversaw included tele-psychiatry services, integrated electronic medical records, an after-school program for adolescent offenders, STOP DUI felony treatment court, IMPACT service for adults with serious mental illness, implementation of an Evening Report in Center for court-ordered youth and a Mobile Crisis Response to prevent suicide.
