Fort Pierre’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Cowboy Christmas activities will include a new event this year.
Mayor Gloria Hanson says the Nov. 27 festivities will include turning on the lights that have been added to the pedestrian bridge over the Bad River.
When lit, Hanson says people in both Fort Pierre and Pierre will be able to see it.
Hanson says they will not do the soup and chili contest and feed this year, but will they will have:
- wagon rides from 4-6pm
- Bad River Pedestrian Bridge lighting at 6pm
- Christmas tree lighting and caroling at 7pm
- a visit from Santa
This year’s Fort Pierre Christmas tree has been donated by Scott Hipple of Pierre.
The Future Fort Pierre organization is managing donations for the bridge lighting project so they are tax deductible. The City of Fort Pierre will maintain the Bad River Pedestrian Bridge and lighting for the life of the bridge.
