South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem outlined her proposed 2022 State Budget during an address to state legislators today (Dec. 8, 2020) in Pierre. She listed three priorities, one of which is strengthening communities.
Noem also proposed specific increases for education and state employees.
The Governor also offered to provide different health insurance options for state employees.
Along with strengthening communities, Noem’s other two priorities for the 2022 state budget are paying off 2010 debt and restoring and reinvigorating infrastructure.
Total general fund spending as requested by Governor Noem in this proposed budget is $1.8 billion.
