PIERRE – 2019-20 Pierre Governor boys basketball had a tough start and the season never became easier, resulting in a 1-19 finish and exclusion from the SoDak 16. Terry Becker begins his 16th season as Governors’ head coach with a relatively young team and the uncertainties of playing in the time of COVID-19.
Becker feels that good can be taken even out of a season like last season.
Becker noted that what happened last spring is a prime example of how things can’t be taken for granted.
What are the changes a coach must make with the possibilities of postponements or other changes?
Becker said that adjustments begin right away this week.
Becker was asked how his players have adjusted competing and practicing during the pandemic.
Becker pointed out that most of his players already know the feeling of having a schedule disrupted.

The Governors, according to Becker, know they have work to do in order to improve.
Becker said that a good start can lead to a better finish.
Becker talked of young players other than Lincoln Kienholz that saw action last season.

Becker hopes that players can learn their roles and have enough games in which to do so.
Becker thinks that the Governors should have enough size on the front line.
The Governors will open the season Friday in Harrisburg against the Tigers, then play their home opener at the Riggs High Gym Saturday against the Watertown Arrows.
