Over the weekend the high school basketball season continued into the new year and the DRG Media Group was busy. Spencer Gosch was in Selby Saturday night with two games featuring The Herreid Selby Area Wolverines and the Stanley County Buffalos. The first of the two found the girls game and Herreid Selby got 20 points from Rachell Fiedler in an eight for 19 shooting performance. Fiedler also snatched 9 rebounds for the Wolverines. The Rossow girls combined for 12 points as Jada and Rylee had 6 apiece. The Wolverines shot 34 percent on the game to The Buffalos 22 percent. Herreid Selby Area outrebounded Stanley County 41 to 30 and in the end the Wolverines defeated the Buffalos 48 to 21. The second game featured the boys in this match-up. Stanley County’s Nathan Cook had 16, Lathan Prince had 13 and Stran Scott had 12 points in a well balanced scoring attack. The Buffaloes shot 43 percent from the floor while holding the Wolverines to 35 percent. Although the Wolverines outrebounded the Buffalos, 32 to 30, the boys from Stanley County beat the Wolverines 59 to 45. Spencer Gosch and KMLO will be back in action tomorrow in Herreid as the Wolverine boys will take on the Tigers from McIntosh. The Mobridge Pollock Boys and Girls where busy Saturday night as the Sully Buttes Chargers came to Mobridge for two. In the first game Sully Buttes and Mobridge Pollock went back and forth in a close game going down to the wire as The Lady Tigers from Mobridge Pollock got their second win of the season defeating the Chargers 45 to 40. Landyn Henderson scored 11 points and Mariah Goehring and Keena Damarrias scored 8 a peace in the win. Stevie Wittler had 15 points for Sully Buttes in the loss. The Tigers picked up 15 points off 19 turnovers by the Chargers in the game. The boys played the night cap and Mobridge Pollock got a big night from Brayden Goehring with 16 points and Caden Eisemann with 15 points.
Rafe Wientjes scored 14 for the Chargers. The Tigers and Chargers where tied at 12 after one then Mobridge Pollock took a 28 to 19 lead into the locker room at halftime. After three the lead was 38 to 33Tigers and in the end the score was Mobridge Pollock 50, Sully Buttes 47. The Tigers will be in action tomorrow night as they take on The Potter County Battlers at Mobridge Pollock High School.
