FORT PIERRE – After losing in overtime in Brookings earlier this season, the Oahe Capitals took a home overtime win Sunday over the Rangers when Keenan Howard scored 4:11 into the extra period to give Oahe (15-1-0-1) a 2-1 win at the Expo Center.
Oahe and Brookings are tied for the boys’ league lead with 31 points and have identical records.
Max Kjelden scored his league-leading 28th goal with 3:46 left in the second period to put Brookings in the lead. A shorthanded goal exactly two minutes later by Elliot Leif, his 25th this season, tied the game.
Kieran Duffy was strong in net for the Capitals, making 25 saves.
In the final weekend of regular season play, the Capitals will host three games at the Expo Center. Rushmore is the opponent for a Friday game at 8:00 CT, with Sioux Falls 2 in for a 7:00 CT game on Saturday, followed by Mitchell for Senior Day Sunday at 2:00 CT.
