An apartment building with half a dozen tenants was evacuated for a short time this morning (Feb. 25) in Pierre after a garbage truck hit a gas line meter.
Pierre Volunteer Fire Department chief Ian Paul says it happened in the 200 block of East Dakota Avenue, not far from the old city hall building.
Firefighters were on scene for less than an hour.
