The Hughes County Jail is starting to increase the number of federal prisoners it will hold.
Sheriff Darin Johnson told county commissioners at yesterday’s (Mon.) meeting the numbers were reduced last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Johnson said he’s trying to balance the staff he has available with the number of prisoners the jail could hold. He says he’s been in contact with other jails in the state to get some ideas about employing medical personnel.
Johnson will continue to update commissioners as he gathers more information.
