The City of Pierre is hosting a contractor meeting today (Thurs.) at 3:30pm in the Dakota Room at River Cities Public Transit (East Dakota Avenue).
Participants will meet Pierre’s new Building Official, receive updates on all city utilities, learn about changes to building and construction code and get updates on contractor licensing deadlines.
John Childs, Pierre City Engineer, says they offer this training to keep the contracting community well educated on regulatory changes. He says contractors are a very important piece of Pierre, so the city wants to do what they can to help them understand the law and be successful at their trade.
All residential contractors operating in Pierre are required to be licensed by the city and all contractors are welcome to attend. Continuing education credits are required for license renewal and this contractor’s meeting fulfills the continuing education credit requirement. There is no cost to receive the credit.
There are nearly 200 residential contractors licensed by the City of Pierre. In 2020, the city issued 422 residential building permits.
