North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem welcomed Judge Boasberg’s Order Friday (May 21, 2021) denying the effort to shut down the Dakota Access Pipeline from continuing to operate pending completion of a court-ordered Environmental Impact Statement on a short portion of the pipeline where it crosses under the Missouri River.
“I applaud the Court’s determination not halt the pipeline, and remain confident that the final environmental analysis will again show the pipeline is an exceedingly safe way to transport oil from North Dakota to refineries, just as it has been doing for almost four years,” Stenehjem said.
“I trust that the updated information North Dakota recently provided the Court, as well as a separate letter from the Three Affiliated Tribes, were important considerations in the Court’s decision, and look forward to conferring with the Corps as this matter proceeds,” he added.
