I’m helping one of my really good guy friends with his dating life. Which means helping him set up the perfect dating profile. When I saw the pictures he was using, I was like bro come on… you have so many better pictures to use than those! I’m by no means an expert in this department, but there’s nothing a Google search can’t help you figure out. So we hit the internet up and stumbled across an article that Bumble put together on taking the perfect profile picture. Here are some of the tips they gave.
- The quality of the Photo is important! I had a tv professor in college tell me all the time… bad lighting can and will kill someone… Okay, it won’t do that, but it is very important when you don’t want dark or blurry pictures. Think about the sun and the room you are in before snapping the picture.
- Timers or selfie devices are your best friend! We aren’t always lucky enough to have a photographer or a friend to help us capture those important moments. Having a timer on your phone or a selfie clicker can help you hands-free capture those moments.
- Don’t put mirror selfies in your profile. Masting the perfect mirror selfie takes time and talent. Sometimes they aren’t the most flattering pictures out there. Instead of a mirror selfie, showcase one of your hobbies or your smile.
- Smile big in all of your pictures! You have a beautiful smile! Show it off! Smiling means you are friendly and will help you invite more folks to swipe away on your profile.
- You should be the center of attention in all your photos. It’s okay to have on group picture in your profile, but you don’t want to leave the other person guessing which one you are because all you have are group photos. Have fun in your photos!
- Folks want to learn about you and the best way to do that is through pictures of you doing your hobbies. If you like to hike, then have a picture of yourself hiking. If you have a do, show you two on a walk. A person can learn a lot about who you are based on the pictures you use.
- Don’t be a catfish and use old pictures. Having current pictures is very important. The other person doesn’t want to know what you looked like ten years ago! They want to know what you look like now! A year is probably a good time range!
- Use all the photo spots. Give the other person enough to make them want to learn more about you and see who you are.
These are the tips Bumble is giving out! Do you have others?
