A minimum-security inmate placed on escape status last November is back in custody.
Keith Apple was arrested in Rapid City today (June 1, 2021). He is currently housed at the Pennington County Jail.
Apple left the Rapid City Community Work Center without authorization Nov. 7, 2020.
Leaving a non-secure correctional facility without authorization constitutes second-degree escape, a Class 5 felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison.
Apple is serving two concurrent 5-year sentences with 2 years suspended on each for unauthorized ingestion of a controlled substance from Pennington County.
