A Rosebud woman convicted of Involuntary Manslaughter and Perjury has been sentenced in U.S. District Court.
Kaylee Spotted Elk, age 29, must spend 36 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release and pay a $200 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
Court information says on January 12, 2020, in Todd County, Spotted Elk killed a man while operating a motor vehicle under the influence of methamphetamine. The information also says on November 6, 2019, Spotted Elk knowingly lied about a material fact at a federal jury trial in Pierre while she was under oath and sworn to tell the truth.
Spotted Elk was immediately remanded to the custody of the US Marshals Service.
