South Dakota Farm Bureau will award $7,600 in scholarship monies to eight students.
Recipients are high school seniors and college students whose parents or guardians are current members of South Dakota Farm Bureau, and have been for at least two years. Applicants could be considered for an agriculture-focused or community-focused scholarship, depending on their major and experience with agriculture.
The South Dakota Farm Bureau Scholarship Fund was established in 2005 by Richard and Agnes Ekstrum of Kimball Richard served as South Dakota Farm Bureau’s president from 1975 – 1995.
2021 SDFB Community-focused Scholarship awardees:
- $1000– Malia Schumacher of Pierre is a Human Biology/Pre-med major and will be attending South Dakota State University.
- Ruth Trautman of Huron is an Accounting major and will be attending Southeast Technical College.
- Brycen Cheney of Wall is a Human Biology major and will be attending South Dakota State University.
- Laney Mackaben of Belle Fourche is an Animal Science: Biomedical Science major and will be attending North Dakota State University.
2021 SDFB Agriculture-focused Scholarship awardees:
- $1000– Beth Nagel of Gettysburg is an Agriculture Communications and Agricultural Leadership major and is attending SDSU.
- $600– Teigen Hadrick of Faulkton is an Animal Science major and will be attending South Dakota State University.
- John Piroutek of Milesville is an Ag Business major and will be attending South Dakota State University.
- Everett Paul of Faith, S.D., a Precision Machining major who will be attending Lake Area Technical College.
