The tally is now up to four after a contractor hit another gas line today (June 8) in Pierre.
Pierre Volunteer Fire Department chief Ian Paul says the contractor was doing curb and gutter project at the intersection of West Pleasant Drive and Oneida Avenue.
Between Pierre and Fort Pierre, this is the 5th gas line break in the past week. Paul says each of the four incidents in Pierre has been a little different.
Today’s gas line break was caused by the same contractor that hit a line one week ago (June 1) while working on the same project.
Pierre firefighters also responded to breaks Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (June 1, 2 and 3) of last week. Fort Pierre volunteer firefighters responded to a break yesterday. No one was injured and no structures were damaged in any of the incidents.
