Here are a few some Feel Good Friday stories making the rounds . . .
- Alaska Wildlife Troopers do not intend to issue a citation to a man who was seen lifting a baby moose over a guardrail in south-central Alaska over the weekend, though it is illegal to “handle any wild animal in a similar fashion,” an Alaska State Troopers spokesperson said. Alaska’s News Source reported an Anchorage man, Joe Tate, was driving home Sunday from a fishing trip with friends when he saw a line of cars and a moose in the road on the Kenai Peninsula. Tate said a mother moose was pacing in the road, and a young calf struggled to scale a guardrail to join her. He estimated watching for about 30 minutes. He said he considered calling wildlife officials or law enforcement but worried an accident could occur in the time it would take for them to arrive.
- A Texas A&M student was moving away from Florida for school. And he stopped his car to give a homeless guy a bunch of stuff, like shoes and blankets. Now a video someone got of it is blowing up on TikTok.
3. Last month, a Waffle House employee in Alabama named Timothy Harrison asked for a day off to go to his high school graduation. But then he showed up that morning and said he WASN’T going, because he didn’t have nice clothes or a ride across town. But his coworkers said NO WAY. One of them drove him to get his cap and gown. And his boss and two other employees went to a clothing store to buy him some dress clothes. He ended up getting ready for his graduation right in the middle of the Waffle House dining area. But here’s the best part: A community college heard about the story. And now they’re giving Timothy free tuition and books.
4. A couple in northern Michigan recently got married, and a house next to their reception caught FIRE. Luckily no one was hurt, and the house was saved. But the reception couldn’t happen, so random people helped move it to a new location. It happened on Mackinac Island, which doesn’t have cars. So people had to carry everything. A resort offered up an event space that was open. A restaurant helped finish all the meals. And a random bellhop filled in as a bartender.
5. A bunch of high school carpentry students in Virginia worked with an affordable housing charity, and helped build someone a three-bedroom house.
6. A 13-year-old kid put a message in a bottle, and dropped it in the ocean in Rhode Island three years ago. And a different teenager just found it in Portugal, about 2,400 miles away.
