A St. Cloud, Minnesota, man convicted of Travel with Intent to Engage in Illicit Sexual Conduct with a Minor was sentenced this month in federal court.
Nathan Paul Grondahl, age 25, was sentenced to 135 months in federal prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release, and a special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund in the amount of $5,100.
The conviction stemmed from an incident on November 22, 2019, when Grondahl left his home in Minnesota to travel to Hartford, SD, for the purpose of engaging in illegal sexual conduct with a 13-year old female. Grondahl had met the minor on social media and had been communicating with her for a few days. Grondahl also requested that the minor female send him nude pictures of herself.
This case was investigated by the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey C. Clapper prosecuted the case.
Grondahl has been allowed to self-surrender by June 28, 2021.
