SIOUX FALLS – For once, a big inning went the way of the Pierre Trappers.
Pierre scored five runs in a go-ahead sixth inning Tuesday at Karras Park and broke their 10-game losing streak with a 6-5 win over the Sioux Falls Sunfish.
Pierre (7-15) trailed 3-1 before the big sixth inning. An RBI double by Eric Mast cut the Sunfish lead to 3-2 before Joseph Bramanti’s two-run single put the Trappers ahead to stay. Richard Williams hit a two-run double to cap the rally.
Sioux Falls scored two in the bottom of the ninth, but Pierre held on.
Fischer Rausch (1-1) earned the win with four scoreless and hitless innings in relief.
