PIERRE – With two one-hit shutouts, Post 8 Legion Baseball swept a doubleheader from Huron Wednesday at Hyde Stadium, 2-0 & 13-0.
Lincoln Kienholz was brilliant on the mound in the first game with his one-hitter. He struck out six. Post 8 scored the only run they needed in the first inning with a Jayden Wiebe RBI groundout that scored Kienholz, who had tripled. An error scored the other run in the second inning.
Jack Van Camp pitched only five innings in the nightcap due to the run rule, but also threw a one-hit shutout, striking out nine. Post 8 (15-9) took the drama out of the game quickly with five runs in the first inning. Matthew Hanson drove in the last two of that frame with a single and drove in three for the game. Maguire Raske hit a two-run double and had an RBI groundout. Andy Gordon and Jack Merkwan each drove in two runs. Elliot Leif had three hits, including two doubles. The Eights scored seven runs in the fourth to precipitate the early finish.
