Growing up, my family use to go watch stars all the time. Any time we could get out of the city lights, we would. Coming up on Thursday, we are going to have our last Supermoon of the year according to CBS News.
I’m by no means a science expert, so I’m going to do my best to explain exactly what is happening with this one. The article says the only time a supermoon happens is when the moon is super close to the Earth. This month’s supermoon is called the Strawberry moon. The article says there could be a big misconception for folks. The moon won’t have a pink color. It will appear as normal… maybe just a tad brighter. The reason they call it a Strawberry moon is because strawberry harvest use to happen around this time of the year for some Native American Tribes. If you want to know exactly what time you’ll be able to see this moon, check out timeanddate.com. They will be tracking it closely so we know when to go outside and take in the sight!
