The Pierre Volunteer Fire Department quickly extinguished a small grass fire in the northeast part of town around two o’clock this afternoon (June 24).
Chief Ian Paul says it was on north Garfield Avenue.
Paul encourages people to be careful, because a fire will start easily and burn quickly in the current conditions.
On Tuesday (June 22), a structure received minor damage from a grass fire in Fort Pierre. The fire started where someone had been welding outside, near the building.
