Two boats colliding on a body of water in Clark County, South Dakota, today (July 8, 2021) has left one person dead, and four others injured.
Emergency Management Director David Lewis says two boats collided on Indian Springs around 10:30 this morning.
The deceased victim was launched into the water, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two others were taken to Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown with non life-threatening injuries, and two more sustained minor injuries that did not require hospitalization.
Lewis says the accident was weather related. He says there was fog and rain in the area when the one boat t-boned the other southeast of Black Claw Bait and Tavern.
The names of those involved have not been released, although Lewis says they were adult males.
Agencies responding to the call were the Clark County Sheriff’s Department, Clark Police Department, South Dakota Game Fish and Parks, Watertown Fire Rescue Ambulance, Clark Ambulance, Codington County Search and Rescue and Clark County Emergency Management.
