The number of people flying out of the Pierre Regional Airport continues to rise after falling last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
City commissioner Jamie Huizenga says 1428 people flew out of Pierre last month (June 2021).
Both Denver Air Connection and SkyWest, flying as United Express, book their flights using the united.com website.
DAC currently holds the federally subsidized Essential Air Service contract to provide commercial air service for Pierre. SkyWest, who previously held the EAS contract, is now flying “at risk”– meaning at its own expense because it no longer a receives federal subsidy.
