PIERRE – Colin Adams’ three-run homer highlighted a seven-run second inning Saturday in the Pierre Trappers’ 7-5 win over the Hastings Sodbusters in the first game of a doubleheader at Hyde Stadium. Pierre couldn’t hold a 6-0 lead in the second game and lost to Hastings 7-6 in eight innings.
An error scored the first run in the Trappers’ big inning in the first game, followed by RBI singles by Richard Williams and Ty Stauss and Adams’ home run. Andrew Kim later had an RBI single. Jared Shelon was the winner in relief, with Mason Wells earning a save.
Pierre (11-27) scored all their runs in the second game in the first inning. A wild pitch scored the first run, followed by a two-run double by Kaiden Cardoso and a three-run homer by Joey Bramanti. Hastings then scored five in the second and another in the third, then took the lead with a run in the eighth on a Justin McGuigan RBI single.
