One person died Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash west of Martin.
Names of the two persons involved are not yet being released pending notification of family members.
Preliminary information indicates that a 2009 Smart Fortwo was westbound on U.S. Highway 18 when it crossed the center line and collided with an eastbound 2018 Freightliner semi truck.
The 69-year-old male driver of the Smart Fortwo was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The 56-year-old truck driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigation. All information is preliminary at this time.
The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
