Weather pending, the complete rebuild of five blocks of Highland Avenue is scheduled to start today (July 12).
To accommodate the $1.4 million project, Highland Avenue between Wynoka Avenue and Seneca Street will close to through traffic beginning this morning. Additionally today, the Highland and Oak and Highland and Seneca intersections will close.
The closures will remain in place until the project is complete, which is expected to be in mid-October. During the project, including one block of Second Street that connects Highland and Euclid Avenues, a 70-year-old water main will be replaced, new curb and gutter will be installed, and the street will receive a new asphalt surface.
