MITCHELL – Ryker Kreutzfeldt has been named as the new Mitchell High School boys basketball head coach.
Kreutzfeldt, a 2014 Mitchell alum, had been an assistant coach for Todd Neuendorf for the last four seasons. Neuendorf resigned last month to become the Hamlin boys head coach.
Kreutzfeldt told the Mitchell Republic, “I’ve lived here my whole life, I love it here, I love the community — this is my dream job. To me, this is like getting the Duke job. This is extremely important to me and it would take something catastrophic for me to give it up.”
Kreutzfeldt has served for the last month as interim head coach, running the Kernels’ team camps, summer leagues and youth camp.
