MITCHELL – Though Zak Wallner started again, the offense couldn’t come through for him Friday as the Kimball/White Lake Nationals were shutout by Winner/Colome 5-0 in the quarterfinal round of the SDABA Class B State Tournament at Cadwell Park.
Wallner, starting for the third time in the tournament for the Nationals, struck out eight in starting for the second time in less than 48 hours. He threw 157 pitches in a win over Redfield on Wednesday.
However, K/WL had just one serious threat on offense, stranding two runners in the sixth inning. Winner/Colome, who advanced to the semifinals for the third straight year, had a four-hit shutout by J.J. Farner with five strikeouts.
