PIERRE – Normally, Pierre Governor Volleyball faces nothing but frustration against the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles. Saturday, the team from Aberdeen faced that frustration at just about every turn.
The Governors, who had lost four matches in a row and 26 of the last 28 against the Golden Eagles, dating back to 2009, swept Aberdeen Central Saturday in the home opener at the Riggs High Gym, 25-21, 25-13, 25-21. Pierre Volleyball has its first 4-0 start since 2015.
Pierre had 25 kills, while Aberdeen Central had only 10. The Governors were led by Ayvrie Kaiser with nine. MaKenna Schlekeway recorded six. Reese Terwilliger had five. Terwilliger and Sanchez each had two blocks. Pierre’s strong serving continued with 15 aces. Remington Price had six and Kaiser had three.
Pierre will return to the road Tuesday in Mitchell against the Kernels. Coverage will begin at 6:30 on The Official Voice of the Pierre Governors, River 92.7. Live and archived video will be available on the River 92.7 page at the DRG News app and at drgnews.com.
