Some Feel Good Friday stories for us to enjoy…
1. A group of Marines in their dress uniforms trudged through floodwaters near the Pentagon last Thursday to help a stranded motorist. A torrential downpour had flooded a number of roads in the area, and the Marines pushed the car out. In a video, a woman in the car says, “The Marines are going to help us? . . . this is the most American thing ever.” And in the comments, she added, “As an immigrant we don’t usually see these things in the country I grew up in.”

3. A 100-year-old British man named Eddie Hughes got a big surprise from his family when they gave him the keys to a Bentley S3 . . . the same one he drove as a chauffeur back in 1964. His son had spent 20 years trying to track it down. Eddie won’t be driving it around town himself . . . he’s turning in his license after 83 years . . . but he says he will enjoy having his family drive HIM around in it.
4. A father and daughter were heroes in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Saturday night. They were driving back from dinner, when they saw a massive house fire. It must have just started because emergency personnel wasn’t on the scene yet. A witness said someone was inside, so the father, Michael Harvey, RAN INSIDE. He’s a former firefighter, and he found someone on the ground inside. He and two other people dragged him out. The man was the only person inside. Michael’s daughter, Rachel Harvey, is a fourth year med student, and she immediately began checking the man’s vitals and performed a trauma survey. Then EMS arrived. The man will be fine, but unfortunately his home is destroyed.
5. A three-year-old girl got her head stuck between two bars of a railing at an apartment complex in Boulder, Colorado this week . . . so the police came and used a BATTERING RAM to free her. But it wasn’t what you’re picturing. They wedged the tool between two of the bars, and then turned it to pry the bars apart. The little girl was amazed and relieved that the police got her out, so a news anchor asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up, and she said she wants to be . . . “a silly witch for Halloween.”
6. A couple in Iowa named Sam and Madison Waldron got married last month. Now a video from their reception is going viral, because Sam’s autistic brother was the best man, and gave a great speech. He talked about his social anxiety, and said it was terrifying to be up in front of 170 people. But then he talked for five straight minutes . . . cracked jokes . . . made people cry . . . and got a standing ovation.
7. The website EmergencyRV.org gives donated RVs to people who’ve lost their homes to natural disasters. And in three years, they’ve given away about 100 RVs to wildfire victims, including a volunteer firefighter who just lost his own home in August.
8. A 46-year-old guy in England ran into a burning apartment last week, and saved an 84-year-old woman, her son, AND their little dog. Then seconds after he got them all out, the place exploded.
