The Pierre City Commission didn’t take up the proposed Dwelling Rental Registration & Inspection Program Ordinance at last night’s (Sept. 28, 2021) meeting after all.
Mayor Steve Harding says he wants the full commission present when they make a decision.
Harding didn’t specify at which October meeting date the proposed ordinance would be brought up.
A Sept. 14, 2021, public hearing drew a big crowd, but little support during the approximately one hour discussion. Opponents said they should have been included in drafting the proposed rules and the ordinance would end up increasing rental fees for tenants– making housing less affordable.
The Pierre City Commission meets every Tuesday at 5:30pm CT at City Hall. Meetings include time for public comments.
