Driving While Eating — or DWE — is one of the most common driver distractions. Recent surveys have shown that mobile noshing happens more than talking on a phone. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration doesn’t keep track of what snacks lead to the most wrecks but the insurance industry says these are some of the worst Driving While Eaters:
• Drivers are more likely to clean up spills to spare work clothes. And they won’t pull over to tend to a mess because they don’t want to be late for work.
• Dangerous foods, in order: tacos, chili, hamburgers, barbecue, fried chicken, jelly or cream-filled doughnuts, sodas and chocolate.
